About the Position

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator or designee, coordinate the implementation of evidenced based prevention education curriculum in K-12 classrooms throughout the Pajaro Valley School District and local community partners and coordinate implementation of peer-led, community level education and prevention activities. This position will support the coordination of the Empower Watsonville youth leadership group to advance community health and build youth leadership and advocacy skills.

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Coordinates and implements evidence-based education services to children, youth, and community members

  • Develops expert knowledge of specific primary and a secondary tobacco, nicotine, cannabis and substance use education educational materials, trainings and activities

  • Interfaces with school site administration and community partners to arrange for delivery of curriculum

  • Plans, preps and presents curriculum in the classroom and community setting for students and families

  • Administers and collects program evaluation data

  • Research, design and implement training and professional development information about tobacco and other related substances to collaborative partners, and community members

  • With support from the Program Coordinator, ensures that monthly program related reports are submitted as required.

  • Attend professional development trainings

  • Coordinate and support Empower Watsonville youth leadership group meetings, activities, and community events

  • Conducts outreach activities to inform and educate community members about tobacco, nicotine, cannabis and other substances on the impact it has on community health

  • Support with meeting the teams program goals as needed

  • Bilingual a plus!

  • Work occasional evenings and weekends

Training and Experience 

Requires a BA degree and at least two years education implementation in a school setting or other youth/community service environment. Bilingual skills highly desired (Spanish/English)

OR

An AA and at least four (4) years of prior experience in a classroom setting or other youth and community-based environments demonstrating similar duties and responsibilities.

 

Bilingual (English/Spanish, preferred)

Annual Salary Range

Salary Scale: $48,360‐$53,316.90 depending on qualification and experience
